DV files Format

DV, digital video file is a format for storing digital video which was launched in 1995. DV uses lossy compression of video while audio is stored uncompressed. DV format features such as physical videocassettes, recording modulation method, magnetization, and basic system data in part 1, etc.

DV video files are often used in most consumer digital camcorders and also can be imported into many video editing software like iMovie, FCE, FCP for Mac and Windows Movie Maker on Windows. For playing the DV video files, you can use these software like Apple QuickTime Player, VLC media Player, Mplayer, Adobe Flash Professional CS6, CyberLink PowerDirector 11 on Mac OS, Windows and Linux system.
