AVI, Audio Video Interleaved (also Audio Video Interleave) is a multimedia container format which contain both video and audio data in a file container for sync play audio and video. The AVI file extension is developed by Microsoft in November 1992.

.AVI file format uses a lossy video compression method, although not a very good picture quality, but it’s still very wide range of applications. An AVI file may carry audio/visual data inside the chunks in virtually any compression scheme, including Full Frame (Uncompressed), Cinepak, Motion JPEG, Editable MPEG, VDOWave, QPEG, and MPEG-4 Video, etc. You can open AVI file on various video players like Apple QuickTime, Real Player, Microsoft Media player, VLC media player on computer.
