3GP vs MOV

3GP file format is defined by the Third Generation Paternership Projects for transfer audio and video files between 3G cell phones and over the Internet. File extension .3GP is a simplified standard of the MP4 standard that was designed to play, record video on 2G, 3G, 4G cell phones.

MOV is a computer file format used natively by the QuickTime. The format specifies a multimedia container file that contains one or more tracks, each of which stores a particular type of data: audio, video, effects, or text (e.g. for subtitles).

1. 3GP is developed by 3GPP and MOV developed by Apple.
2. 3GP is used for transfer files between cell phones and Internet, MOV QuickTime movie player.
3. MOV stores everything at higher bit rate than that of 3gp.
4. Quality of MOV is better than that of 3gp, that because 3gp is for mobiles with less resources so it's light weight and videos are lower in quality.
